Hey, I’m Rachel. I've been a full-time book designer for 15 years—the last decade of which I’ve been a freelancer and solopreneur. I've loved helping countless authors bring their visions to life.
But through it all, I've felt firsthand just how isolating and challenging this career path can be. (Although, it’s exciting and liberating too.)
I’ve come to believe that those rare few of us who are book designers need to band together to support and learn from each other. The publishing industry is booming, and there is room for all of us.
It’s so cliche that I almost hate to say it, but it’s true that we are better together. I’m an InDesign expert, and I’m still learning new things about it all the time. It seems like every time I talk to another book designer I learn of a different way of doing something or just a new perspective. I believe we can all learn from each other, improve our skills, and enjoy ourselves more along the way by collaborating and acting sort of like we’re all book design co-workers on planet Earth.
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of feeling like I’m going at it alone.

Hey, I'm Rachel—book designer, entrepreneur, and dog + horse mom.
For over 15 years, I've been deep in the world of book design. I started as an employee and worked for two different publishers, then transitioned to freelancing in 2015, and finally founded Printed Page Studios in 2021, where I focus on working one-on-one with self-publishing, nonfiction authors.
I've had the privilege of helping countless authors transform their dreams into beautifully crafted books, but along the way, I discovered a challenge that many freelance book designers face: isolation and the lack of a supportive community.
For years, I longed for a place where I could get help, where I could connect and collaborate with other book designers—a place that simply didn’t exist.
The Book Designer Collective is my way of turning this vision into reality—and I invite you to join me in building a community where we all thrive.
